ISO is an international standards organization that sets guidelines and best practices for various industries. Founded in 1947, ISO has created more than 22,000 standards covering almost every imaginable topic. Thailand recognized the importance of ISO certification and joined the organization in 1973.

The term “halal” simply means “permissible” or “lawful” in Arabic. It is a term used by Muslims to refer to anything that is legal under Islamic (sharia) law. Therefore, halal certification is a way to assess whether a product meets halal requirements, such as how the meat was processed to prepare meals.
