Nizonide
Nizonide 500, the active ingredient in Nizonide, is an antiparasitic medication that effectively treats intestinal infections caused by protozoa and certain worms. It works by interfering with the energy metabolism of parasites, ultimately leading to their death and removal from the body.
This medication is particularly effective against Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium parvum, and some helminths (parasitic worms). By blocking the pyruvate: ferredoxin oxidoreductase (PFOR) enzyme, Nitazoxanide disrupts the parasite’s ability to produce energy, leading to its elimination.
