I’ve got a bit of a headache with my 2017 Discovery Sport and I’m hoping someone here has been through something similar because I’m starting to lose sleep over it. The car drives absolutely fine on the open road, nice and smooth, but the moment I hit stop-and-go traffic on Al Ittihad Road or around the industrial areas, it starts this annoying jerking sensation when I accelerate from a complete stop. It feels like the gearbox is confused about which gear it wants to be in, and there’s this slight clunk that makes me cringe every single time. I took it to a general garage in Al Quoz and they told me it might be the torque converter, but honestly, I don’t think they really knew what they were talking about because they didn’t even have the proper diagnostic tool for Land Rovers. They just plugged in some generic scanner and gave me a vague answer. I’ve been doing a lot of reading online and it seems like these ZF 9-speed units are known for this kind of behavior, but what I really need is someone who actually specializes in these cars and won’t just guess their way through the repair. I came across a website that offers complete support for these models and it gave me some hope that there are experts out there who understand the quirks of the British engineering. But I’m still hesitant because I’ve been burned before by places that claim they can fix anything and then end up making things worse. What I’m really looking for is a recommendation for a workshop that has the actual factory-level diagnostic equipment and experience with Land Rover automatic transmissions. Has anyone had a similar issue with their Discovery or Evoque and managed to get it sorted properly? I’d love to know what the root cause was in your case, whether it was a software update, a valve body issue, or something more serious like internal wear. Also, if you don’t mind sharing, what did the repair cost you roughly? I’m trying to budget for this because I know these repairs aren’t cheap, but at the same time I can’t keep driving the car like this because it’s my daily driver and the traffic here is only getting worse. I’ve been told that sometimes a simple transmission fluid flush with the correct spec fluid can make a world of difference, but I’m also aware that if it’s been driven too long with bad fluid, the damage might already be done. Another thing that worries me is whether they’ll actually warranty their work because I don’t want to be back in the same situation a few months down the line. I’ve seen so many mixed reviews online about different shops and it’s honestly overwhelming trying to figure out who to trust with a car like this. If you’ve had a good experience somewhere in Sharjah or even Dubai, please let me know because I’m at that point where I just need to take action and stop overthinking it. I know that delaying it might only make the repair more expensive and I really don’t want to end up needing a full replacement when a proper service or mechatronics repair could have fixed it early on. Any advice from fellow Land Rover owners would be massively appreciated because right now I feel like I’m navigating this blind and I don’t want to make a costly mistake by choosing the wrong place. I just want my car to feel smooth and reliable again like it used to be when I first bought it visit here https://gearboxrepairsharjah.ae/brands/land-rover.
